Eagles persist, make big plays to get past Rangers

Persist. It\'s the word that\'s on the back of every North Olmsted player\'s jersey. It\'s also a way of doing things that served the Eagles well Friday night. Both Lakewood and North Olmsted showed that game winning-tenacity throughout the contest. But it was the Eagles that turned that persistence into two big scoring plays in the second half as they turned back the Rangers, 28-12, in a Week 5 Southwestern Conference matchup. Lakewood remained winless on the season despite making a number of big plays defensively to keep the game close. But a pair of mistakes in the first half combined with two big plays by the visitors in the second half proved too much to overcome. Ranger Notes: Eagles fly in for Homecoming week

It\'s Homecoming Week at Lakewood, and the Rangers would like nothing more than to liven up the festivities a bit with their first win of the season. Friday night, Lakewood continues its first run through the Southwestern Conference against North Olmsted. The Eagles, 2-2 on the season, picked up their first conference win last Friday night with a hard-fought 32-29 decision over Westlake. Lakewood head coach Mike Ribar is familiar with the Eagles, having played them in a non-conference game last season. This week, he said his team would have to be ready for anything against a team that has had its fair share of ups and downs so far this season. \"That\'s what we\'ve seen on the film...\"    (3208 reads)
