Rockets down Pirates to claim GLC championship
The Bay girls soccer team used a 3-0 run to defeat arch rival Rocky River, 4-1, and claim the first-ever Great Lakes Conference championship.
Maddie Holmes led the Rockets with a pair of goals and leads the team in goals on the season with 16. Alex Hoffman added a pair of assists for Bay, which moved to 12-2-2 on the season.
The other two Bay goals were scored by Maddie Ault and Hoffman, while Kate Dannemiller and Autumn Meisenburg each registered an assist. Keeper Jillian Dubil had nine saves.

Lakewood, Avon top the field in first SWC preview
The Lakewood boys made the most of their first ever Southwestern Conference Preview Meet.
The Rangers, placing three runners in the top 10, scored 47 points to edge out Avon by three points and claim the SWC title Saturday at Lorain County Community College in Elyria. The Eagles, also competing in their first conference meet, won the girls race with a team score of 36 to easily out-distance Amherst\'s 72.
Berea-Midpark claimed both individual champions. Lindsey Scarton won the girls meet with a time of 19:49.5, while Michael Jankowski took the boys crown with a time of 16:57.3
Lakewood\'s top finisher was Henry Bish, who came in third with his 17:16.0. Teammate Micah Swartz was fifth with a 17:30.4, while Evan Budzar came in 10th with a 17:50.9 The Rangers\' hopes were bolstered by Joe Burtzlaff (17:59.6) and Gunnar Stockman (17:59.9), who finished...
