Shoremen pull away late to keep Rangers winless
A victory was so close, they could taste it.
At halftime, the Lakewood Rangers found themselves with the lead for the first time this season. Even as the game moved into the fourth quarter, they were within a field goal against Southwestern Conference rival Avon Lake.
But in the end, the big plays down the stretch went to the Shoremen.
Avon Lake, converting on three fourth-down plays, capped off a 16-play, 74-yard drive early in the final 12 minutes on a 3-yard scoring run by Holden Ohm. The Shoremen defense followed up with an interception and pulled away for a 34-23 road win over Lakewood Friday night. \"In the second half, we eliminated some of the mental errors...
