Tennis: Streaks, Demons open season with wins

Magnificat and Westlake, two of the top girls tennis programs in the Westshore area, got their respective 2012 seasons off on the right foot this week. Westlake, the three-time defending Southwestern Conference champ, opened defense of its crown with a convincing 5-0 win over Olmsted Falls. Magnificat had a tougher go of things Monday, but came away with a 3-2 win over Avon, the defending West Shore Conference champion.
