Swimming: Streaks take runner-up honors at CSU
Magnificat and Avon Lake finished second and fourth, respectively, at the girls Division I Swimming Sectionals at Cleveland State University. Westlake was the area\'s top boys team at CSU, finishing sixth.
Individual champions for the girls were Erin Pettegrew from Avon in the 100 Butterfly; Brittany Menzer of Avon Lake in the 500 Freestyle; and Ellen Hutchinson of Magnificat in the 100 Backstroke.

Swimming: River has record-setting day in sweep
Rocky River had a record-setting day in winning both the boys and girls championships at the Division II Sectional Meet at Lakewood High School
The Pirates set nine records on the day, five for the girls and four in the boys meet. Bay also had some-record-setting performances as the girls took runner-up honors and the boys placed fourth in the team standings.
Lauren Devorance of Rocky River set two individual meet records, those coming in the 20 Freestyle and the 500 freestyle. Bay\'s Elizabeth Auckley also set a pair of records, those coming in the 100 Backstroke and the 100 Butterfly.

Bees, Comets swim to SWC team championships
The Brecksville Ladies left no doubt who was the \'big fish\' in the Southwestern Conference pond. Winning diving and eight of eleven swimming events proved they owned the pond.
Later in the afternoon the men of Steele took seven of eleven swimming, including the last four events, to get Amherst over Brecksville.

Rocky River dominates, claims WSC swim crowns
It was a new pool for the West Shore Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at a new school to the conference in Lakewood. With all that newness, it seemed an appropriate time for new records, and there were six swimming and one diving records set over the weekend.
Lakewood\'s Jim McMahan set a new mark in diving at 419.1. Bay and Rocky River swimmers set the rest. 50 & 100 freestyle: Trevor Lake, Bay, 22.7 & 50.13; 100 butterfly: Elizabeth Auckley, Bay at 58.91 and Sam Stankiwicz, Rocky River at 58.39; 200 freestyle: Lauren Devorace, Rocky River, 1:57.94; 200 Individual Medley: Emma Flynn, Rocky River, 2:14.52.

Bay's depth prevails in WSC wins over Lakewood
With the West Shore Conference Meet just weeks away, the Bay and Lakewood swimming and diving squads met in a Friday night dual meet. It was a measuring stick of sorts for both coaching staffs, with individual improvement and future planning both in play.
When it was all said and done, the Rockets had the slight edge this night.

River swims way to Rocket Relay championships
The Rocky River swim and dive team continued its hot start to the 2012-13 season by winning both the girls and boys team championships at the seventh annual Rocket Relays at Lakewood High School.

Pirates swim past Westlake to open new season
The Rocky River swim and dive team opened the 2012-13 season this week by hosting Westlake. The Pirates got off to a solid start, as the girls team won 122-64 and the boys came out of the pool with a 100-83 decision.
In the girls meet, River won 11 of the 12 events. Emma Flynn had a strong performance, competing on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays while winning the 50 freestyle in 26.07 and the 100 butterfly in 1:02.57.
