It was a big week for the Bay baseball team.
The Rockets are off to a good start in the 2014 season. They upped their record to 6-3 Thursday afternoon with a 4-3 come-from-behind win over visiting North Ridgeville. The home team scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the West Shore Conference win.
Senior Kevin Keefe provided the game-winning hit in the bottom of the sixth inning with his two-run single. Sophomore Kyle Thompson also had a double for Bay, which moved to 3-2 in the WSC. Junior pitcher Chris Francati picked up his first win of the season, while junior reliever Griffin Watterson recorded his second save.
Earlier in the week, the Rockets pulled out another close one in topping Midview 5-4 in nine innings.
Down 4-3 in the seventh, senior Marty Schwede singled in sophomore Jacob Crossan with the tying run. Then in the bottom of the ninth, senior Marty Schuerger drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home the winning run.
Francati went two-for-three in that game, including a double, two RBI and two runs scored. Crossan picked up the win and moved to 2-1 on the season.
